Get involved

SILC is a voluntary organisation run by and for disabled people and we’d love you to become part of it. You can:

Donate as you shop!

You can now support SILC while you shop online through EasyFundraising and AmazonSmile.

Amazon Smile Logo

Under this scheme Amazon will make a donation to SILC of 0.5% of the net price for eligible purchases that you make through their Amazon Smile website. It is the same Amazon that you are no doubt already familiar with, but by logging in to the ‘Smile’ part of their website you activate the donations feature.

Please note: We will not receive any information about who has made the purchases nor will we find out what items have been bought.

Please visit smile.amazon.co.uk and select Surrey Independent Living Council as the charity that you would like to support.

Easy Fundraising Logo

Under this scheme you log in to the EasyFundraising website and then go to one of the registered retailer’s normal websites to make your purchase. The retailer will then make a donation to SILC. The donation will be a percentage of the purchase price of the item you are buying. It is set by each retailer and so will vary depending on where you shop. There are over 3,700 retailers involved in this scheme including many of the big household names such as Sainsburys, Marks and Spencer, Argos, ebay, Amazon, Debenhams, John Lewis.

Please note: We will not receive any information about who has made the purchases nor will we find out what items have been bought.

Please visit www.easyfundraising.org.uk and select Surrey Independent Living Council as the charity that you would like to support.

Become a member

Becoming a member of SILC is free and gives you the chance to be involved in helping the organisation fulfil its aims. We welcome feedback and suggestions about our services from all of our members. As a member, you can also vote at our AGMs and even stand for appointment to our Board of Trustees.

For a membership form, or details of associate membership for non-disabled people or organisations, please get in touch with the SILC office on 01483 458 111 or admin@surreyilc.org.uk.

Become a Trustee

A trustee helps to lead an organisation, decides how it should be run and is responsible for making sure that it is doing what it was set up to do. Being a trustee means making decisions that will genuinely impact on people’s lives.

As a User Led Organisation (ULO), SILC’s board of trustees is largely made up of individuals who use our services and have a first-hand understanding of the challenges facing our clients. This experience is vitally important in making sure that our work remains relevant and focused.

Your skills and experience can make a real difference to what we do and in return you will have the opportunity to learn more about running a charity and to pick up new skills from your co-trustees.

We are always keen to hear from people who are interested in volunteering in this way, whether disabled or not. All skills and experience are welcome, but we are particularly seeking volunteers with marketing, fundraising and legal expertise at the moment. Please get in touch with us on 01483 458 111 or admin@surreyilc.org.uk to find out more.
