Are Direct Payments right for me?

If, after an assessment by Surrey County Council, it is decided that you are eligible for care or support, you will be offered a choice as to how you can receive the services you need.

You can choose to:

  • either,
receive services organised by Surrey County Council.

That means that the local authority employs your support workers and assigns them to you.

  • or,
you can opt to receive Direct Payments to purchase the services or employ the people you need to help you yourself

It’s this option that SILC can help you with.
